Mark files as unchanged
"Mark as unchanged" is useful if you already have same files in both local and remote folder. It will prevent from re-sync these unchanged files and this may save you a lot of time and bandwidth.
Here are what you should do:
- Preview the profile
- Select same files in preview result. If it's difficult to pick up same files manually, you can simply select all items. FTP Synchronizer will help you to choose same files.
- Click "Edit->Mark as unchanged". If all files you selected have same file size, they will be marked as unchanged and you can go to step #4. Otherwise, a window will open to ask for more information. There are three options:
- "They are same". This means these files are same and will NOT be synchronized. Please double check before selecting this option. Because in most cases, the same files should have same size too.
- "They are different". These files are different and will be synchronized.
- "Only files with specified extensions are same". This may happen if you uploaded files in ASCII mode to a Unix FTP server. Unix system has different end of line flag than Windows. So, although file content is same, the size is different.
- Run the profile
NOTE: You only need to do this once unless you uploaded files with other FTP client again. In this case, you may need to mark these file as unchanged again if you don't want to re-synchronize them.
